Well innings by Boom Boom Afridi, Hafeez and Umar

Thanks to Hafeez , Boom Boom Afridi and Umar Akmal for great batting Innings. They just played lovely game. Afridi’s Fast fifty , Hafeez long Innings to a century and a well deserving fast scoring by Umar brought Pakistan to positive side.

Here is a quick review of Pakistan’s Innings

Mohammad Hafeez c Taylor b Mills 115 144 12 2 79.86

43.4 Fine knock comes to an end. It was the low full toss and Hafeez tries to whip it over the on side field but top edges it to the on side. Rosco, at midwicket, moves to his left to take it. Good knock from Hafeez. His maiden ton. Just ahead of the WC. Purrfect timing. 202/5

Ahmed Shehzad c Styris b Southee 0 3 0 0 0.00

1.3 Caught at second slip! There has been no major seam movement so far and even this delivery just straightens. It landed on a good length outside off and straightened, Shehzad wafted away from the body and got a thick edge 2/1

Kamran Akmal† b Southee 6 9 1 0 66.66

3.1 Dragged on! It landed short of length outside off stump and moved back in a bit. Nothing alarming, just a little bit. Akmal saw the width and shaped for his punchy forcing shot through the off side. Did the ball stop on him a touch? He seemed to have pushed at it early, and the bat came down in an angle, and got a fatal inside edge. The leg stump is pegged back. He wasn’t in great position to play that shot. 8/2

Younis Khan c Mills b Oram 12 22 1 0 54.54

13.3 gone! What was Younis doing there? He appeared to have made his mind up there, came down the track before it was delivered and failed to pick the change in pace, it was the slower one, went through with his attempted loft over mid-on, mistimed and was caught comfortably 56/3

Misbah-ul-Haq c Styris b Mills 35 64 1 0 54.68

36.1 Misbah falls, trying to force the pace. He went down the track and tried to clear the length delivery over mid-off but didn’t connect well. Styris pouches it at mid-off 150/4

Umar Akmal b Bennett 44 29 4 2 151.72

47.6 shuffles across to outside off and tries to paddle it but misses. The off stump is pegged back. Good hand from Umar, though. Pakistan look so good when the top order gives them a solid base and the dangerous men lurking in the lower order are given a free licence to hit. That’s how they played in 80’s. And they continue to do it in some style even now 271/6

Shahid Afridi* c †McCullum b Bennett 65 25 5 5 260.00

49.2 Fine catch from Brendon. It was the good-length delivery cutting into Afridi who went for the pull but got an inside edge. Baz dives to his left to pluck it with his left hand. Murderous innings from Afridi ends. It was immense fun to watch. 288/7

Abdul Razzaq not out 5 4 0 0 125.00

Wahab Riaz not out 1 2 0 0 50.00

Extras (lb 2, w 6, nb 2) 10

Total (7 wickets; 50 overs) 293 (5.86 runs per over)
