KRL, Army, Wapda and PEL record wins
KARACHI: The Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played on Saturday saw defending champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), Pakistan Army, Wapda and the Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) emerging triumphant from their respective grounds in four different cities of the country.
The KRL beat the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 2-0 at the PAF Complex in Peshawar. The goals were scored by wingers Mohammad Qasim (37th min) and Kalimullah Khan (62nd min).
At the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan Army edged past Pakistan Navy 1-0. The decider was scored by fullback Umar Daraz in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, Wapda beat PMC Athletico 3-0 at the Agriculture University ground in Faisalabad. Wapda’s skipper Arif Mahmood scored twice, in the second and 14th minutes, while Imran Niazi added the third goal in the 35th minute.
In Lahore, PEL beat Young Blood FC 2-1 at the MTFA ground. For PEL, midfielder Mohammad Rashid converted a penalty in the 11th minute followed by Young Blood’s equaliser coming in the 12th minute through their striker Asim Mansoor. The winning goal for PEL was scored by their substitute player Asmatullah in the 72nd minute.
Sunday’s fixtures: PIA v NBP at CDGK Stadium, Karachi; KESC v HBL at Peoples Sports Complex, Karachi; SSGC v KPT at KPT-Benazir Sports Complex, Karachi. Matches kick off at 4.00pm.
